“Don’t judge this book by the cover. (Sorry, I had to.) Hooked on Books is an excellent, if disastrous-looking, used bookstore. I’ve wandered around for hours in there. I’ve walked in with a list of five books and walked right back out with three of them most of the time. That’s a success rate far better than what I’ve come to expect from other used bookstores in town. The shelves are not filled with books that have sat untouched for years; this place is pretty selective and current in the books it sells. The selection of new books seems to be growing, and authors are starting to turn up for signings. The staff is the kind that will graciously leave you to do your thing, then magically appear when you need them. This is a good thing, because you probably will need them. There are an awful lot of books in there, so bring a little extra patience. Prices vary pretty widely, depending on the title and condition of the book, but all are reasonable compared to other local bookstores.”
